Welcome to another episode of Challenger Approaching! In this series, we create full newcomer designs for characters who might be invited to a future entry of Super Smash Bros, going deep into detail on their moves, stats, and everything a newcomer needs!
This time, our Challenger is a major character who may be getting slept on! Eevee's been a popular Pokémon from the start, but the last few generations have elevated the 'mon and its evolutions to full-on mascot status. And while Smash typically looks at newer generations for Pokémon newcomers, we've seen more than one get in at a time in multiple games.
But what could make Eevee, potentially, such an ideal choice to be that second newcomer? How could Smash build a design and moveset that pays homage to the entire line? And can it even be done without a mid-match evolution mechanic that sounds cool on paper but would be too impractical to actually design for real? Watch on to find out!
