Back Waters and Back Roads | A slow start to the slow boat adventure | Health issues @backwatersandbackroads | Uploaded November 2022 | Updated October 2024, 10 hours ago.
Howdy guys and gals, I guess it happens to all of us eventually. We get out there in the world, ready for an adventure...and we go and get sick. I usually takes a lot to knock me down completely, but this one managed to do so. I'm still not entirely sure what happens (no it wasn't "C") my kidneys and/or liver freaked out for a bit, possibly a combination of the extreme keto diet I've been off and on for years, taking 800 ml of Advil for months, and an evening whiskey drink all combined at exactly the wrong time--like a perfect storm. My digestive system rebelled!
After not getting better over two weeks, and going to bed every night wondering if I might wake up dead, I decided the only thing I could do was park the boat and blast back home to find out what's going on (I certainly wasn't able to enjoy being in paradise). I got into an urgent care right away and had a full spectrum of blood tests done. Apparently there was some residual evidence that my kidneys and/or liver had a freak out moment, but nothing lasting, no damage and I'm otherwise very healthy for your average 50 year old guy. I lost 10+pounds and decided to just keep it going (down to 200)
I guess we're not immortal after-all. :)
I'm headed back down to Florida here soon, should be back on the slow boat adventure just after Thanksgiving...with a few interesting stops on the way. Thanks for sticking around, as always. I guess you're stuck with me for a while longer :)

Romans 12:2
"Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewal of your mind, that by testing you may discern what is the will of God, what is good and acceptable and perfect."
See y'all soon....
