Project Hail Mary (2026) follows Ryland Grace, a middle-school science teacher who suddenly wakes up alone aboard a spaceship with no memory of how he got there. As his memories slowly return, he realizes he was sent on a desperate mission by humanity: the Sun is dying because of a mysterious microorganism called Astrophage that is draining its energy, and Earth faces extinction if nothing is done. Traveling to a distant star system where the phenomenon does not occur, Grace must figure out how to stop it and save humanity. Along the way, he unexpectedly encounters an alien scientist named Rocky from another civilization facing the same threat, and the two form an unlikely partnership, combining their knowledge and ingenuity to find a solution that could save both of their worlds.
