*Imber is a historic, abandoned "ghost" village on Salisbury Plain in Wiltshire, England, evacuated in 1943 by the Ministry of Defence (MOD) for military training, with residents never allowed back despite promises.*
Now part of a large military training area, many of the village's buildings remain, including St Giles Church, and are only accessible to the public a few days a year, making it a unique historical and eerie site.
It is very strange to hear the bells of the church ringing, almost making out that all is normal, but it is not!
Although there is no snow or frost to be seen, it was a freezing cold day. I went on my trusty Yamaha XSR125, Dave was on his Royal Enfield Super Meteor, Colin on his Honda NC750 and Chris on his Piaggio 350cc Scooter.
We had some laughs and it was a fun day except for the bitter cold - I was the only one who didn't have some kind of heating which, reluctantly, I must acknowledge, makes me "well 'ard" !!
