In this months video I get up late for an early morning photo walk down along side my local river, the Avon in Worcestershire, where I try photograph sunrise on a cold and misty morning, whilst trying not to cause much angst with the local ducks.
Join me as I look to photograph beautiful sunrise reflections on the river water surface and end up photographing stunning backlight reed beds as the rising suns morning light gives way from pinks, oranges and blues into golden hues and sepia tones. And all of this only a fifteen minute walk from home.
Within this video I produce emotive backlit silhouette of river reeds and capture the changing quality of sunlight from the soft warm colourful light of the breaking dawn through to the sepia tones and contrasting white light of the day.
This was made possible using the Pentax K1 Camera, combined with the SMS Pentax-da* 60-250mm F4 ED telephoto lens, Pentax-D FA 28-105mm f/3.5-5.6 ED DC WR, a shallow depth of field and! an ounce of luck as I raced against the clock against the rising sun and fast evaporating river mist.
I hope you enjoy the images produced with their unique sunrise colours and tones. I also hope this outdoor photography video goes someway to inspire you to think and visit local, look for the smaller everyday details in your local rivers, parks and communities at this very special time of year.
