Clear skies were promised at sunrise⦠but what we arrived to at Cwmorthin was heavy low cloud swallowing the quarry whole.
In this vlog I head out with high expectations for dramatic sunrise light over the slate workings, only to be met with thick clag and almost zero visibility. It very nearly became one of those photography days where you pack up early and head home disappointed.
Instead, I slow down, change the plan, and begin looking for something more intimate within the mist β a mine entrance, slate buildings emerging from the gloom, and a quiet lake with a lone tree holding its own in the atmosphere.
This video is about expectation vs reality in landscape photography⦠and why sometimes the best images come when the original plan completely falls apart.
