This week so we are talking about zombie cells, otherwise known as senescent cells. And there is not much to be scared about, well maybe there is, because we will be discussing a new study, work done by a friend, and former colleague of mine, who has shown a novel approach for the clearance of senescent cells. The method they use are called antibody-drug conjugates (ADCs), a method that is already being used in some cancer clinical trials. The excitement for this approach is therefore that if specific ADCs can be created for senescent cells, clinical translation to human patients seems more promising. So, all in all, a new senolytic approach.
