The sound of screams and the sight of blood welcomed around 20 honors students when they entered an apartment on Iowa State's campus. But don't worry, it was just a very realistic demonstration that tested the first responder skills of 20 honors students. It's all part of a new class being taught by Clayton Oliver, ISU's emergency manager. He wants to create a course that teaches people how to be their own first responder in cases of large disaster events, like the tornado simulation in this video. Oliver hopes to eventually create a program that creates a safer, more resilient campus.
