They’ve ARRIVED!!!
The newest release of Alberta’s Vital Statistics has officially been transferred to Provincial Archives of Alberta to prepare to make them publicly accessible.
Vital Statistics, the official birth, marriage and death registrations for the province of Alberta are the most frequently accessed records in our entire collection. They are a key resource for genealogists, family historians and anyone tracing the stories woven through Alberta’s past.
For 2026, we can now begin preparing access to:
· 1905 Births
· 1950 Marriages
· 1975 Deaths
Although the records are now in the building, the real work begins here. Processing these records takes many hands, many steps, coordination, teamwork and a great deal of care before they can be made available public order online.
Over the next several weeks, we’ll keep you posted in “reel” time as we move through these steps and stages including unboxing, assessing the condition of the records, preparing the records for scanning, preservation and listing these highly anticipated records for public access.
Stay tuned and follow along as we take you behind the scenes of this enormous and exciting archival undertaking that we embark on each new year!
