How can industry collaborations power electric trucks in India?
In a first for India, IKEA successful pilot of a 55-tonne electric truck delivering goods over a distance of 1,200 km shows the way.
Shippers, logistics service providers, original equipment manufacturers, charge point operators and technical experts came together to make it possible. While we provided project design and implementation support, BLR Logistiks, Sany India, Statiq and pManifold EV Academy played key roles.
It was a one-of-its-kind e-trucks pilot in the country using only public charging infrastructure. The trucks used electric chargers at public locations along the route, such as highway motels. Unlike petrol pumps which are widely available for diesel trucks, access to charging docks has until now been limited.
The test gave invaluable insights around vehicle performance, driver experience, charging logistics and coordination across stakeholders.
