As energy demand surges, citizens are gaining energy autonomy by deploying decentralised solutions like rooftop solar and community microgrids. Pakistan offers a striking case study as since 2020 it’s added over 30 GW of solar capacity, driven largely by consumer responses to soaring energy prices. This session examines the structural, policy, and market conditions behind Pakistan’s solar surge and considers how similar frameworks could be adapted across Asia to accelerate the region’s transition to clean energy.
