We did exciting things like daming the local stream, lighting fires under little crags, running off down the fields, and down the the Rive - TheR Ribble. We swam in there too, and it wasn't so clean back then either. Grew up on St Chad's Avenue, Chatburn. I had occasion to visit the graveyard of Chatburn Church a couple of months ago, and it was very sobering to realize that many of the people I knew when I was growing up are in that churchyard. Including some from my generation. The general configuration of the countryside is still the same, however.
