Across continents and centuries, crime fiction returns us to those moments when certainty collapses and truth must be wrested from the shadows. Author, historian and journalist Shrabani Basu’s The Mystery of the Parsee Lawyer narrates a real life mystery from 1888 England that Arthur Conan Doyle, the creator of Sherlock Holmes, helped solve. Shrabani will be joined by Mónica Rouanet, a writer of literary fiction and crime novels. Her famous works like Despiértame cuando acabe septiembre and Nada importante are distinguished by the psychological depth of her characters and their strong reflection on society. From contemporary Spain to Victorian England, this session explores how crime narratives, both real and imagined, illuminate the shifting contours of trust, partnership, and the pursuit of truth across time.
