In central Stockholm, the bridges don’t just cross the water – they open it. Watch one of the two bridges at the new Victoriaslussen, Victoria lock, rise and make way for boats.
During lock operations, the bridges will open one at a time, so that pedestrians and cyclists can always cross via one of them. Around 8,000 cyclists are expected every day.
The Victoria lock opens for boat traffic in 2027, with a clearance of 4.6 metres.
