The joys of historybounding : combining a 1950s vintage dress and a Victorian era dressing gown! The first 1,000 people to use the link will get a 1 month free trial of Skillshare: https://skl.sh/snappydragon07221
I love the 50s aesthetic for summer wear, so some vintage dress sewing was definitely in order. 1950s fashion has some of my favorite style elements and is one of the only periods in 20th century fashion history I actually like. It has a lot in common with my favorite decades of the Victorian era! Both 50s dress patterns and mid Victorian dresses have fitted bodices and full, bell-shapes skirts that I just love. But I was also inspired by fancy dressing gown styles with loose, gathered front panels. So, combining a Victorian bathrobe with a 50s dress worked surprisingly well. My favorite thing about historybounding is that there are no rules π
This vintage dress sewing tutorial uses a DIY pattern, based on a pattern from Fabrics-Store.com in a simple 50s style. Adjusting the pattern to fit and altering the front for a more Victorian style gave me a fun and comfortable vintage summer dress! I'm looking forward to spending my summer in vintage dresses that are just as good for frolicking in the park as for lounging around at home.
