In June 2018, global experts and policy-makers converged at the University of Calgary to chew over the complex dilemma of unhealthy diets — a leading risk factor for death and disability in this country.
The free, two-day food policy forum was presented by the Libin Cardiovascular Institute of Alberta and the O'Brien Institute for Public Health in advance of the new Canada food guide, which was unveiled January 22, 2019.
This is the fourth of seven videos from that event: Food Marketing to Children.
Speakers in this video include Dr. Hasan Hutchinson, PhD, director general of the Office of Nutrition Policy and Promotion at Health Canada; Dr. Kim Raine, PhD, acting vice-dean of the School of Public Health at the University of Alberta; Dr. Mary L'Abbe, PhD, chair of the Department of Nutritional Sciences at the University of Toronto; and Ashley Hughes, national coordinator for Stop Marketing to Kids Coalition.
