Take a front seat ride on the Ultimate at Lightwater Valley, in Ripon, UK.
When it opened in 1991, it took the record of longest roller coaster in the world from The Beast at Kings Island. It lost this title in 2000 when the Steel Dragon 2000 opened in Japan. But it still remains the longest in Europe.
Although designed by Big Country Motioneering, they were not involved with the completion of the project. Lightwater Valley's owner got engineers from British Rail to oversee the construction!
Due to the two lift hills a ride takes over 7 minutes.
