We are starting out mild and muggy with temperatures in the 70’s. Highs this afternoon will reach the lower 90’s with heat index values between 100 and 105 degrees. We are expecting overall less coverage of storms today with just a few seeing a shower or thunderstorm. Out of the storms that do form, one or two could be strong/severe, especially SE of I-65. The main threat today will be damaging winds. The storms will fizzle after sunset. Daily afternoon showers and storms will continue through the week with seasonable temperatures in the lower 90’s. Thursday looks like our wettest day before we dry out a bit for the weekend. Each day brings a chance for possible strong storms. In the tropics, we are tracking two disturbances. One is coming off the coast of Africa with a high chance for development. A tropical depression or storm will likely form in the next few days as the system tracks westward across the Atlantic. The other is in the north-central Atlantic and has a medium chance for development. This could become a brief tropical depression or storm today before it enters a more hostile environment starting tomorrow.
