We start on California State Route 1 a few miles south of Pacifica. We drive into San Francisco, and our first order of business is to drive up the hill to the viewpoint at Twin Peaks. From here we enjoy dramatic views of the city below. We head back down the hill and make our way through the streets of San Francisco. Our route through the city is somewhat random. However, we drive through some well-known areas such as the Haight-Ashbury District, the crooked part of Lombard Street, Telegraph Hill, The Embarcadero, and Fisherman's Wharf.
We then drive north on US 101, crossing the Golden Gate Bridge. After visiting a viewpoint at the north end of the bridge, we get back on US 101 North. After a few miles we get off the highway and make a loop through the town of Sausalito. Once our loop is complete, we get back on 101 North for several miles before ending our day just north of San Rafael.
