Tonight Prop Job continues as we take the mighty Douglas DC-6 into one of the most demanding and iconic airports in the world — Courchevel Altiport.
Our journey begins in Marseille before following the beautiful Mediterranean coastline through southern France. We'll make stops at Toulon Hyères and Cannes before crossing the French Riviera into northern Italy for a brief stop at Albenga. From there, the adventure truly begins as we climb into the French Alps for our final destination — the legendary Courchevel.
Famous for its steep mountain approach, dramatic terrain, and one of the most unique runways in aviation, Courchevel has challenged pilots for decades. With a runway measuring just 537 metres (1,762 feet) in length and featuring an 18.5% uphill gradient, there is no possibility of a go-around once committed to landing. Every approach must be perfectly planned and precisely flown.
Naturally... we're taking a four-engine Douglas DC-6 there.

Marseille Provence (LFML) – Our departure point on France's Mediterranean coast.
Toulon Hyères (LFTH) – A beautiful coastal stop before heading east.
Cannes Mandelieu (LFMD) – Home of the famous French Riviera.
Albenga/Riviera (LIMG) – A brief stop in Italy before turning back towards the Alps.
Courchevel Altiport (LFLJ) – One of the world's most challenging airports, sitting at 6,588 feet (2,008 m) above sea level with a 537 m runway featuring an 18.5% uphill slope. Surrounded by steep mountains, there is no instrument approach, and landing requires special training for real-world pilots.
