I had a tree blow down last week and it's leaning across my power line. I'm waiting for the power company to come and cut it down.
Sometimes the power company will come out pretty quick. But in their defence it was a bad week for them with high winds and wet heavy snow, so they were pretty busy all over the province with power outages. Since my power was still on, I wasn't a priority.
But then last night (December 10) about 10 PM, in the pitch black and rain and icy lane, they showed up to take the tree off my line. And they made quick work of getting it off the line too. They took it down just like I was thinking I would do it. But I'm glad I left it to the power company pros. That way I was not in any kind of danger and if the line were to break, these guys were there to make the repairs.
Please, folks, don't try and remove trees from any power lines, whether or not the power line is live or dead. It's better to leave it to the power company. They do this every day and know the best practices to get it down with minimal chance of causing more damage.
