During a trip to San Francisco, we took a tour bus to visit Muir Woods. It only lasted an hour, and I wasn't able to capture much, but it gives you a good idea! I still managed to be late for the bus.

![Hiking Devils Backbone Trail (Mt. Baldy [2015])
This is our hike back to the ski lift/Top Of The Notch Restaurant, from the last clearing before the final ascent to the top. We didnt make the last approximately 150 feet to the peak, which is very steep. You can see the peak at the beginning of the video.
The trail starts behind the restaurant, and is 3.2 miles one way. There is an elevation gain of 2,200 feet. You have the option of hiking from the bottom at Manker Flats, or the parking area for the ski lifts, or you can just take the ski lift.
If you are afraid of heights, you will struggle tremendously with this trail! I cannot emphasize this enough! Hopefully this video will give you a fair idea to how steep and exposed you really are. Hiking Devils Backbone Trail (Mt. Baldy [2015])](https://i.ytimg.com/vi/mHovzNxnP5c/mqdefault.jpg)

The Southwest United States has a unique landscape where you can see the desert, the ocean, snow-topped mountains, dormant volcanoes, and gold mining ghost towns all within driving distance. The places I captured are only a few out of many beautiful places to see here.
