A Brief Biography of Ḥaḍrat Mawlānā Abū al-Ḥasan ʿAlī Nadwī (raḥimahullāh)

Let us briefly reflect on the life of a great scholar of the Ummah:

Abul Hasan Ali Hasani Nadwi (raḥimahullāh).

He was a Sayyid Ḥasanī — a descendant of our beloved Messenger ﷺ through Sayyidunā Ḥasan (raḍiyAllāhu ʿanhu). He was born in 1914 and passed away on 31st December 1999, corresponding to 23rd Ramaḍān 1420 AH.

SubḥānAllāh, reflect on the beauty of his departure:

He passed away in his hometown of Rae Bareli, India.

He was in iʿtikāf during the last ten days of Ramadan.

It was a Friday.

He had performed his Jumuʿah ghusl.

He had recited Sūrah al-Kahf.

He was waiting for Jumuʿah ṣalāh in the masjid.

And in that blessed state — inside the masjid, in iʿtikāf, on a Friday, in Ramaḍān — Allah took his soul.

What a departure. What an ending. A sign, many would say, of a life devoted to Allah.
