Two major earthquakes struck within 24 hours of each other.
First, a powerful M7.8 earthquake hit south of Mindanao in the Philippines, triggering widespread damage, fatalities, injuries, and a large aftershock sequence. Then, a M6.1 earthquake near western Cuba shook parts of Florida, with reports coming in from Miami, Tampa, Orlando, and other areas across the state.
In this video, I investigate both events, examine the tectonic settings behind them, compare the faults involved, review the historical context, and look at what scientists actually know about earthquake clustering and possible triggers.
