A Silent Volcano Just Got Shaken — Earthquakes vs. Volcanoes
In one stretch of days, the ground moved on three continents — California, Japan, and Venezuela — and it got me asking a bigger question: what are all these recent earthquakes actually doing to our volcanoes?
In this video I go through the latest USGS / Smithsonian Weekly Volcanic Activity Report and track the real seismic activity around the volcanoes making news right now — plus one that surprised me the most.
We look at:
🌋 Fuego, Guatemala — one of the most active volcanoes on Earth, in near-continuous eruption since 2002. I break down the 14 earthquakes logged within 250 km over the past 30 days — and why they aren't what's driving the eruption.
🌋 Bagana, Papua New Guinea — a young, remote lava cone that's been erupting almost non-stop since 2000, with a dangerous explosive past.
🗻 Mount Fuji, Japan — silent since the 1707 Hōei eruption. Then, on June 26, 2026, a magnitude 5.7 earthquake struck about 7 km from its base. So is Fuji waking up? I show you exactly what the instruments say — and what history tells us.
The honest answer may not be what the scary headlines are selling. Japan's Meteorological Agency currently keeps Fuji at Volcanic Alert Level 1 (normal). But the reason scientists watch every tremor is real — and I walk you through it, using live data, not fear.
