A guitarist showed up to the session wrapped head-to-toe in tinfoil. Guitar wrapped. Pedalboard wrapped. They had concerns about internet signals - specifically, that streaming audio was a government vector for implanting musical preferences against their will. Three years offline. Very thorough research. Extensive documentation.
The foil did not stop this new beat.
This is a 95 BPM alt-rock drum track with an 8th note hi-hat, a syncopated snare, tom fills, and crash accents. It entered through the foil, through the documentation, and directly into their ears. They sat with it for four minutes without saying anything. Then they asked how long I'd been putting beats online.
Longer than three years. A lot longer.
They looked at their guitar. They looked at the foil on their guitar. They looked at the three years of extremely disciplined offline living that had, it turns out, protected them from nothing except the music.
Free for practice and jamming. Recording and release requires a license. The documentation was wrong.
Hope you're having a good time jamming with my beats. You're welcome to use them here for personal playing and practice. If you're recording or releasing something, you'll need a download, which is what jimdooley.net is for. It's also a great way to support my channel.
*Downloads and licensing at jimdooley.net*
I have a few free beats on the site so you can get a feel for things before committing to anything. For the full catalog there are two membership tiers. Here's what's available for most beats - check the beat's page to confirm what's there for a specific one before signing up:
- *Full-length beat* - the complete original recording as a WAV file. A real performance with an arrangement, not a loop.
- *Drum loops* - short excerpts from the full performance, usually one to four measures, cut to repeat seamlessly in a DAW. The building blocks for arranging your own song structure.
- *Multitrack stems* - the raw individual tracks, one file per microphone. For anyone who wants to mix the kit from scratch. 24-bit WAV only.
- *16-bit WAV* - CD quality. Standard for most recording and release work.
- *24-bit WAV* - studio quality. Higher resolution, larger files.
- *MP3* - smaller file size. Same performance, easier to move around.
*About my videos*
There are two types on my channel: original beats, which are full recordings with arrangements, and 20-minute versions made from loops for longer practice sessions. The 20-minute beats aren't available as a single download, but grab the loops from the site and you can arrange them yourself - loop them as long as you want.
If you've been getting use out of these beats, joining the site is the best way to make sure there are always more on the way - and it's genuinely appreciated.
