Following multiple requests, Walton County Sheriff’s Office is releasing a 911 call and dash cam video from the night of August 31st prior to a fatal crash.
Walton County dispatch received a 911 call at 11:42 pm Friday in regards to a drunk and disorderly person at AJ’s Grayton Beach. The caller identifies the subject as Dustin Dupree and said Dupree was arguing with customers inside the business and got physical with a security guard. The caller later told dispatchers Dupree got into a silver Dodge Durango with a white female and was attempting to leave when he ran over a parking curb.
According to the caller, Dupree spends several minutes attempting to leave the parking lot before pulling out at 11:47 pm.
It’s at that time a Walton County Sheriff’s Office Deputy pulls up to the intersection at County Road 283 and West County Highway 30a and spots the Dodge Durango heading north in the south-bound lane. Dashcam video shows the two meeting head-on at the intersection of 30a when the deputy turns on his lights signaling for a traffic stop.
The video shows Dupree attempt to get around the deputy’s vehicle, however, the deputy pulls to the left to prevent Dupree from fleeing. In a second attempt, Dupree backs up and then enters the northbound lane of 283 and peels out around the deputy before disappearing out of view.
At 11:47:43 the deputy tells dispatchers Dupree has fled from the attempted traffic stop. Deputy Stephens clears the intersection and heads north on 283. Minutes later, at 11:49:12 dash cam video shows the deputy arriving on scene at the Intersection of Highway 98 and C.R. 283 and relays to dispatchers there has been a crash.
