Deadpool 3 marks the first R-rated movie under the MCU banner after Disney acquired Fox Studios in 2017. While technically the 34th MCU film, Deadpool 3 is crafted to be accessible to new audiences, minimizing the need to understand the entire past storyline. However, for those interested in a deeper dive, here are some key films and series to watch:
To understand Wolverine & the Fox X-Men character arc, watch X-Men (2000) and Logan (2019). For Deadpool's storyline, Deadpool (2016) and Deadpool 2 (2018) are essential. Loki Season 1 offers a good recap and explains the concept of multiple variants. Spider-Man: No Way Home (2021) is another great watch for understanding the multiverse madness.

Deadpool and Wolverine is a soft reboot of Fox's X-Men franchise. Characters from previous X-Men movies are now canon in the MCU, but by the end of this movie, 99% of them will be permanently removed.
Confirmed characters include Ryan Reynolds as Deadpool/Wade Wilson, Hugh Jackman as Wolverine/Logan (a new version), Morena Baccarin as Venessa, Stefan Kapičić as Colossus, Brianna Hildebrand as Negasonic Teenage Warhead, Shioli Kutsuna as Yukio, Karan Soni as Dopinder, and Leslie Uggams as Blind Al. The villain is Emma Corrin playing Cassandra Nova, a powerful telepathic character.
The plot takes place six years after Deadpool 2, with Wade Wilson pulled into a new mission by the Time Variance Authority (TVA) to save his home universe from an existential threat. He joins Wolverine on a mission that will alter the history of the MCU.
Rumored cameos include Aron Stanford as Pyro, Jason Flemyng as Azazel, Kelly Hu as Lady Deathstrike, Tyler Mane as Sabretooth, Vinnie Jones as Juggernaut, Chris Hemsworth as Thor, Jennifer Garner as Elektra, Patrick Stewart as Professor X, Halle Berry as Storm, James Marsden as Cyclops, Ben Affleck as Daredevil, Ian McKellen as Magneto, Owen Wilson as Mobius M. Mobius, Nicholas Hoult as Beast, Taylor Swift as Dazzler, Dafne Keen as X-23, and Blake Lively as Lady Deadpool.
Cable is not expected to appear due to Josh Brolin's role as Thanos in the MCU’s Infinity Saga. Despite the lack of Cable, excitement for Deadpool 3 remains high.
