Laura Corbin, from the University of Bristol, UK and first author of a paper recently published in @diabetologiajournal1421 was the guest in our Journal Club.
Laura presented her research findings after analysing baseline and 12-month samples from the DiRECT study with both untargeted MS and targeted 1H-NMR spectroscopy to characterize the impact of weight loss and type 2 diabetes remission at the level of the metabolome.
They observed that known perturbations of metabolite patterns in type 2 diabetes are reversible with intensive weight loss.
