B minor Guitar Backing Track 80s Heavy Metal Backing Track / Hard Rock uptempo jam track for guitar in Bm
I really love working on these classic heavy metal backing tracks, even if I end up branding them as the 1980s. Not that the 80s were bad, it saw a breakthrough in guitar orientated music that set up the whole modern rock thing but it becomes apparent to me I should probably instead work on some more contemporary modern metal backing tracks rather than this end up being an archive of throwback! Saying that, I tried out a number of new things with this one. For a start, I decided to rock the Mesa Boogie Dual Rectofier instead of the Marshall JVM I've been growing use to. The Kemper (http://www.kemper-amps.com) was probably the best investment I've made this year, and you can obtain countless of accurate amplifier profiles from them for not much money at all. I got mine all from the Amp Factory (theampfactory.com/).
My inspiration for this track was the ending chord rotation to a popular Metallica song. Kirk Hammett really got to show off his Wah-Pedal skills! The chords allow for a more melodic breakthrough if needed. Although the track is technically in B minor, E minor will also work fine - in fact for those of you who have already clued in which track this is, he did in fact do a bunch of arpeggios at the end based off the E minor scale. The drumming is explosive and progressive rises in intensity, until it's straight double kick. Unfortunately we couldn't end there (or it'd be the shortest jam track I'd have ever put out), so it does a quick fill and lowers the intensity to build it back up again.
The chord rotation is
B5 - A5 - G5 - A5
(Use B minor pentatonic... blues or full minor, but you can move with the chords if you wish too)
Guitar was a USA Charvel So-Cal through a Mesa Boogie Mark V head, bass a Fender Jazzbass through an Ampeg SVT head.
Have fun!
