I wasn’t planning to film today’s update from a hospital bed, but here we are. I’ve been admitted with cellulitis, so the 72-hour reading marathon has come to an unexpected stop. The good news is I’m okay and being taken care of, and I wanted to let you know what’s going on.

Thank you to everyone who was following along with the marathon — your support means a lot. When I’m back home and feeling better, I’ll share a full recap of what I did manage to read, what I learned from the experience, and whether I’ll attempt another marathon in the future.

Also worth checking out: Steve Donoghue recently posted a response to Ryan Holiday’s “26 tips for reading,” which is especially interesting in light of how unpredictable real reading life can be. You can find Steve’s channel here:

📽️ Cinephile Sunday is still happening!

We’re watching the classic thriller The Taking of Pelham One Two Three (1974), with special guest Steve Donoghue. This is the classic film show I co-host with James Ruchala of Quaint & Curious Volumes, and a new episode is going live there as well — be sure to check out James’s channel:

Thank you again for your patience and well wishes. Back to the books soon. 📚
