This morning we got a wake up call by having a 7.2 magnitude earthquake and tsunami alert here in Anchorage, Alaska. At 8:29am AKST we encountered an abrupt shockwave unlike any I have experienced in my entire life living here in Alaska. My wife and I were having a late start and still at the house when it struck. We ran for cover in our vehicle parked inside the garage attached to our home in South Anchorage. Included is footage of the event and aftermath. Damage to roads, bridges and local infrastructure is severe. Schools and most businesses have been evacuated and the entire downtown district is closed until damage can be assessed. no reports of casualties at this time. We are safe and thankful we were not under a car at the time of the event. Ill post more later.
