70 kg dips. Current weight is 65 kg and my height is 167-168 cm. This set was performed after having done 2 sets with 55 kg push-ups, 2 sets of 100 kg rows, 2 sets of 16 kg (each dumbells) lateral deltoid raises, 2 sets of 45 kg biceps curls and 2 sets of 50 kg hammer curls.
Now most of you might be wondering, woah Yaad, since when do you lift weights? Allow me to explain and tell you about this awesome person who taught me almost everything I know when it comes to gymnastics strength.
5,5 years ago I started working out for the first time. I was active on this website called gymnasticbodies.com and would ask a ton of questions. There was this one guy who repeatedly took the time to write essays answering these questions. His name is Joshua Naterman. As soon as I would post a question, he would immediately respond. For years I’ve been training, making a ton of progress, only by following his advice.
It was about 1,5 years ago that I found him on Facebook and decided to approach him and thank him for all the essays he wrote back then. He quickly replied back and before I knew it, he was writing essays again on how to get stronger.
After a few months of talking he started giving me routines that I would follow religiously. I kept getting stronger and stronger. Mind you, he did all of this free of expense with nothing to gain. He also explained the logic between every small factor in the routine. It is because of this, and all his previous essays that I’ve acquired this amazing amount of knowledge. It’s because of this that I’m able to teach so many people and see them grow both mentally and physically. It’s because of this that I’m at the level I am today.
2 months ago we started with a new routine. The idea was to grow muscle by lifting weights as that’s the quickest way. I won’t go into the mechanics of it right now, but let me tell you this, I’ve never gotten so much stronger SO fast. Before I knew it, I gained 5 kg and my dips went from 45 kg to a whopping 70 kg!
Now the goal is to train my central nervous system (CNS) and be able to use all this new mass efficiently for advanced gymnastics movements such as the full planche, iron cross, maltese etc. I’ll be doing this during Ramadan and the two months after that.
The point of this story was to thank Joshua for all he has done. I don’t think he realizes how much he’s done for me, but also for the people around me. I personally train with my friends frequently and you just have to see it to believe how much progress these guys have made. We talked about it today and realized that we’re truly blessed to be exposed to this amount of high quality information.
This guy, Joshua, without having anything to gain, started spending so much time on our development, whilst having almost no time at all as it is. Thank you man. Seriously, I can’t thank you enough. My goal now is to become a sports physician and make it my job to help people just like Joshua helped me.
