As an experienced technician, I always make sure I inspect the firebox or heat exchanger inside the furnace. The reason why every good technician does this is to make sure the furnace is safely operating to factory specs. The manufacturer would never send out a cracked heat exchanger, so we want to identify to homeowners when we see something like a cracked heat exchanger.
