In this HVAC training video, I will describe how I diagnose a bad TXV. A thermostatic expansion valve meters the flow of refrigerant into the evaporator coil.

If the thermal expansion valve is bad the evaporator coil freezing might happen, which would reduce airflow to the point where no more air would blow into the house. It can be frustrating not knowing what's going on with your TEV or thermal expansion valve as some people call it.
