This was Open Research Institute's FPGA Projects Call on July 7th, where team members discussed recent progress, upcoming demonstrations, and future plans. Aaron reported significant advancements on the OpenCPI project, including a full end-to-end demonstration of Opulent Voice with multiple users, enhancements to the RxDashboard for channel selection and UDP broadcasting, and the addition of a web audio version of Interlocutor that allows web browser access to the audio interfaces. He also improved the LibreSDR Petalinux root file system to enable Python 3 and necessary packages, and added auto-run scripts for boot-time operation. The team discussed plans for demonstrating at DEF CON, with Aaron planning to bring a mini ITX board with Zynq 7100 for the demonstration. Michelle and Paul provided updates on the FutureGeo project, sharing insights from the Friedrichshafen ham radio conference where they presented their design to positive feedback. They explained that Phase 2 of the Future Geo process will involve industry partnerships, and discussed the need to find commercial partners for potential space deployment. The meeting also covered progress on the EVE (Earth-Venus-Earth) project, with Rick reporting completion of his IEEE presentation on DSCS and ongoing work on a unified Python script to simplify deep space software usage. New volunteer Parham Saltani was welcomed to the team, and Paul shared his successful finds at the Friedrichshafen swap meet, including antenna relays for terrestrial opulent voice applications.
