The GR Corolla costs an additional $6,000 or so, while the Civic Type R and Golf R are approximately $13,000 more. You will likely pay more at the pump for the WRX, as it is estimated to return only 22 mpg in combined city/highway miles, but then again its sporty competitors aren't much more efficient. In the end, the Subaru WRX is a great choice for drivers seeking thrills on a budget. There was a time when Subaru was known more for its rally racing program and sporty sedans than its outdoorsy wagons and SUVs. Now that we've confirmed Subaru's legendary WRX STI model will not return to the lineup, the 2023 WRX is the last performance car from Subaru.
