I was feeling inspired to attempt the About Last Month project founded by Layle Koncar, so this video is dedicated to summarizing the first of 12 new chapters in 2024. I used the My Story collection from Simple Stories, along with my Cricut Explore to add a bit more embellishing (and journaling) to this page. It measures 6x8 inches and is going into a page protector in my album.
This layout was also created for the Scrapbook Nerd online scrapbook store. Links are below.
The open book is a digital image I found in Cricut Design Space (in the image library). It’s offset (meaning it’s attached to its shadow), so that drawing + cutting happens in one pass. I used a Grey Brown alcohol marker to add some depth + shading. I’m by no means a pro at colouring, but I’m quite happy with how it turned out! The shading is perfection, IMO. The book image is attached to the layout with foam adhesive so that some of the floral bits + pieces from Simple Stories can be tucked underneath. (That’s another trick to add depth to your project.)
I also used my Cricut Explore to cut the white cardstock journal mat- after I added the writing in Design Space (again, attaching words/shapes to another shape allows you to draw and cut all at once). It makes the whole process smooth and painless.
