You just have to love when you specifically order bolt in ready application specific parts just for them to not even be close to actually fitting! This is what the aftermarket parts market is like. Ruined by crap imported parts with no QC.
I get it, parts are made in China because it's cheap . . . hell I like "cheap" because everything is expensive. But seriously, how hard is it to QC the parts when they get here to make sure they are at lease made somewhat correct!
Nooooo, let's just ship them straight out to the customer and let the customer find out the hard way they spend money on crap!
Despite the frustrations of these parts not fitting as intended I accepted the challenge to work on some of my fab skills and do what was necessary to make the fit. A little cutting, grinding, and welding and before you know it, I have a part that actually bolts into the car.
I get it, a lot of stuff for these older cars needs a little massaging to fit, but this was a lot more than just a little massaging. I had to cut bends off that were the wrong way and shorten both sides by nearly an inch to get them to fit properly between the firewall and the core support.
Anyway, this is just how it is these days. Parts makers sell us junk and the real hotrodders figure out how to make it work anyway for the love of building the cars. Thanks for lesson CPP.
