I recently checked out a Giant e-bike costing nearly **$6,000 CAD**, and my first thought was... how does this make sense? 🤔
For that kind of money, you could buy TWO very capable direct-to-consumer e-bikes, often with bigger batteries and more powerful motors.
But then I spotted something interesting.
I stopped at a local bike rental shop here in Victoria and noticed they were using Giant e-bikes in their rental fleet. I spoke with the mechanic, and he told me they're straightforward to work on, reliable, and well suited to the abuse that rental bikes inevitably take.
So maybe the Giant isn't really about winning the spec-sheet battle. You're paying for refinement, engineering, reliability, dealer support, and potentially a bike that's easier to keep running for years.
But is that worth nearly $6,000?
That's the question.
