6.0 powerstroke - DIY Engine Rebuild - Part 1. So this is the beginning of my 6.0 powerstroke rebuild. Some of my previous videos just before this go over cleaning parts and other useful information. So in part 1 of this diy engine rebuild for our 6.0 powerstroke will be me blowing out the bolt holes to make sure there isn't any liquid for proper torque specs. Then I clean the block and girdle bearing journals with rubbing alcohol and the bearings on both sides to ensure no dirt on the bearings. Then we torque the girdle down with plasti-gauge to ensure proper clearance in the bearings. I let the machine shop install the cam bearings because well simply put it wasn't much more than the tool cost on amazon to have them do it, I figured they have more experience than me so why not. I will not be checking end play on either of the crankshaft or camshaft because the bearings that came out of the engine after viewing that bearing wear poster were just normal wear and the engine ran just fine before the tear down.
