The video shows how an autonomous vehicle avoids collisions with pedestrians, which are detected by a detection unit, consisting of LiDAR and camera, and with a connected motorcycle. The test is performed in the Sodankylä Arctic test track in Northern Finland, where a 5G Test network from VTT is installed. 5G modems, installed on the detection unit, autonomous vehicle and connected motorcycle, communicate with each other over a V2X broker, installed on a MEC in VTT’s facilities in Oulu.
The demonstration is part of the Celtic-NEXT 5G-SAFE-PLUS project, co-funded by Business Finland, and involves VTT, FMI and Unikie.
