When my mailbox recently decided it was no longer in the mood to stand proudly in front of my house doing the one job it had been commissioned to do, my first impulse was to grab a shovel, get to work, and teach it just who was in charge around here. That thoroughly misguided shovel-grabbing impulse morphed quickly into an infinitely more inspired one, namely to outsource this crucial but potentially arduous lesson-teaching work to a younger and more energetic cousin who had recently started an outdoor services company. One thing led to another and almost before we knew it we had decided the time was right to do some major excavation work that I had been wanting to do for a while. AND we still managed to teach that slacker mailbox a lesson it won't soon forget!
