One thing I wish more women understood about hormones…🩷
It’s not JUST about hormone replacement therapy.
There are SO many things that affect how we feel in our 40s:
👉🏻 nutrition
👉🏻 gut health
👉🏻 sleep
👉🏻 stress
👉🏻 muscle mass
👉🏻 movement
👉🏻 nervous system regulation
ALL of it matters. 🫶🏼
And I’m happy to report… 43-year-old Heidi feels BETTER than 20-year-old Heidi ever did. 🥹🩷
Here are the 5 THINGS I'd focus on:
1️⃣ NUTRITION 🍓
Under-eating, chronic dieting, and relying on caffeine to survive can create even MORE stress on the body. Instead:
✨ prioritize protein
✨ balance blood sugar
✨ eat enough food
✨ stop fearing carbs 😘
Your body needs fuel… especially now.
2️⃣ GUT HEALTH 🦠
A stressed, inflamed gut can make hormone symptoms feel SO much worse.
Instead of ignoring digestion issues, bloating, constipation, food sensitivities, etc… pay attention to them. 🫶🏼
3️⃣ SLEEP 😴
Sleep is not optional anymore. lol Poor sleep impacts:
❌ cortisol
❌ cravings
❌ recovery
❌ blood sugar
❌ mood
❌ hormones
Protect your sleep!!!
4️⃣ RESISTANCE TRAINING 💪🏼
And as estrogen declines, women are at a higher risk for losing muscle and bone density… which means lifting weights becomes less about aesthetics and WAY more about long-term health. 🫶🏼
5️⃣ STRESS MANAGEMENT 🩷
This one is HUGE because your body doesn't know the difference between emotional stress, under-eating, overtraining, lack of sleep, overwhelm...
It all registers as STRESS. 😅
Do things to support your nervous system like walking, deep breathing, spending time outside, recovering properly, protecting your peace, etc.
6️⃣ BONUS:
Sometimes the best thing you can do is stop guessing...
Get labs.
Ask the questions.
Talk to someone who actually understands hormones & women's health in this phase of life.
