When we first came to Taiwan, no one told us how hot it would be.

During our first summer here, we tried our best to explore as much of the outdoors as we possibly could but, there was just one problem…that insatiable heat and exposure to the sun.

Finally, we decided to take the problem of outdoor shelter more seriously and so we plunged ourselves into a period of research and testing in order to find the perfect portable outdoor shelter for our needs. So, in this video, we're going to look at some of the stuff we found.

Just a quick disclaimer - The point of this video is not to review individual products, but rather to give you an overview of the different kinds of systems that are out there. Also, I've not tested all of these systems myself so most of my comments are based on reviews I've seen and read, as well as my thoughts on where and how I see these systems applying to outdoor enthusiasts

5 Portable Outdoor Shelters

1. Car awnings
These are systems that are usually connected directly to the roof of a vehicle or to the vehicle's roof racks and either pull out on a roll or swing out on a hinge to create a sheltered area.
