In this episode of God-Free Bible Study, we plunge into one of the most authoritarian and morally disturbing stretches of the Old Testament — Deuteronomy 13–17 — where Yahweh’s laws double down on religious intolerance, fear-based control, and violent enforcement of obedience.
From “tests of faith” that read like divine entrapment… to commands to stone your own family members… to entire towns being slaughtered and burned because someone dared to suggest worshiping another god — these chapters reveal a worldview where dissent isn’t debated… it’s exterminated.
Along the way, we explore:
• Yahweh’s “tests” — and why they feel like spiritual sting operations
• The grotesque demand to execute prophets, friends, and even family members for religious deviation
• How fear, surveillance, and public executions function as social control mechanisms

If Yahweh truly had divine truth on his side… why would he need people stoned, silenced, and burned to enforce it?
