Lilly Lindeström lived in a small apartment building within the Atlas neighborhood in 1932 Stockholm. The 32-year-old woman often welcomed her clients at her apartment.
One night, Minnie, a close friend and neighbor, had planned to meet Lilly, but the latter canceled at the last minute as a new client had called and she was going to see him.
According to Minnie, that night Lilly knocked on her door to ask for a preservative. A while later, she came back to get another one. This would be the last time Lily would be seen alive.
The following day, Minnie knocked on Lilly’s door but there was no answer. Still, she didn’t think much of it.
During the next three days, Minnie tried to reach Lilly on several occasions, but her door remained shut. Then on the fourth day, Minnie went to the police.
As the officers broke down the door, they immediately saw Lilly’s body lying on her bed. She looked pale and decrepit, and her head and skin showed clear signs of violence. Lilly had been assaulted.
The police found the entire crime scene puzzling and disturbing, and they decided to send the body for an autopsy to gather additional evidence.
The coroner then determined that she perished from repeated blunt trauma to the head. Disturbingly, it was also revealed that at least part of her blood had been drained from her body.
At the crime scene, police found a ladle filled with the victim’s blood. The evidence suggested the perpetrator had drunk Lilly’s blood after murdering her. The case would be forever known as that of the Atlas Vampire.
The investigators were never able to find a murder weapon or a clear suspect, and the horrifying case remains unsolved to this day.
