We talked about nuanced details about his literary influences on things like enemy names (things like Legion and some of the weapons.) We touched on what translating or localizing a game really meant back in the day as compared to now with his answers shocking me about the process. And of course, we discussed the infamous "WHAT IS A MAN?" line, confirming from other sources officially for the first time. A DISCUSSION ON ORIGINAL VS RERELEASE Dongled 2022-11-15 | Retro-Bit has been putting out retro re-releases with updated box art and in some cases, cutscenes that are brand new to non-Japanese audiences. A good example is Metal Storm as well as today's game unboxing: Avenging Spirit. But I already owned the original game...so, why did I decide to part with it in favor on this one? The answer may surprise you. Would you rather have the original game release, or a more complete version of the game? Retro Bit does their due diligence to get original IP owners (and developers) approval of their products. Do you feel like this is enough to accept their re-releases (and many other companies that do it) as a "proper" rerelease? I'd love to get your constructive opinions on this down below.
