World First Saveless Run of Profane Promiseland in 4:11:36 (ITYTD)

Coincident 2025-07-24 | Profane Promiseland. 40 thousand enemies in a sequence of extremely challenging fights. Created by ELMLE, Dubzzz, and Insane Gazebo, and released in 2022, this massive gigaslaughter map for classic doom is considered by many as the spiritual successor to Okuplok, and is also inspired by Holy Hell.

After a recent increase in popularity in this mapset, several people have been publishing strategies and tricks that make this map more approachable in a single-segment setting. Despite that, the hardest fight, known as "Skill Issue", is still mostly undiscovered grounds. Some strategies exist for it, but they're not yet very consistent.

Either way, in this video I set out to be the world's first person to beat Profane Promiseland in a single-segment. That means only 1 life, no save-games, and no checkpoints. This run was recorded on the "I'm Too Young To Die" difficulty setting which, compared to "Ultra-Violence", gives the player double ammo, and half damage taken.

Coincident 2025-07-11 | A first time playthrough of Speed of Doom, which is a popular custom mapset for classic doom with an... interesting difficulty curve! Speed of Doom is from 2010 and it was created by Joshy and Darkwave0000. This run was played on Ultra-Violence difficulty, pistol starting each map, and with limited saves...? Zone 400. All Maps. 1 Life. D2All UV Max in 1:36:20

Coincident 2025-06-27 | A Zone 400 D2All UV Max speedrun for classic doom. I must beat the entire mapset with one life only and no savegames nor checkpoints, and get all kills and secrets. This was attempt 34, after about 2 weeks of routing and practice.

Honestly, 2 weeks to get this run was not a bad investment all things considered, especially since I managed to beat both the previous record and my own goal (sub 1h40) on the first exit. So I'm happy with this run and I'll stop running this for now.

Unfortunately I can't say I enjoyed maxing this mapset very much. Zone400 was a great fun experience for casual play, but in a speedrun setting where you need to get 100% kills, the random teleporting lines shuffling all the monsters around get old very very quickly. That's the biggest reason why routing and practicing this run was so frustrating from the start. Doom already has a crap ton of RNG... the monsters teleporting around is a factor that doesn't add any fun when you have a set timelimit to achieve and need to find that last kill that teleported somewhere unpredictably.

On that note, Map 30 is probably one of the worst maps to max that I have ever seen. Beyond just what I stated in the paragraph above, both the IOS AND the random teleporters can telefrag you through your invulnerability at any point in time. That is NOT a good way to end a run, especially if you need to run around the map for minutes, because there's one final kill lost somewhere in the middle of all the IOS spawns...

Anyway, this is done. I don't think I'm trying this again. So GL to anyone going for the sub 1h30 minute goal, which is totally possible btw with more aggressive strategies. So happy facerockets to you. With all the random teleporters, you can be sure those are going to happen.

Holy Hell Single-Segment UV Max in 2:28:35

Coincident 2025-06-06 | A UV Max speedrun oh Holy Hell map 5 (= maps 1 through 4 combined) in 2h28, which beats the previous record of 2h58 by Okuplok. Holy Hell is possibly the first giga-slaughter map ever made for classic doom.

After running Untitled 2 for so long, the thought of having spare megas to recover from mistakes still feels alien to me. Despite my inicial goal being sub 2h50, I knew from my segmented practice sessions that sub 2h30 was possible. I just didn't expect to get that on the very first exit. Sweet.

There's lots of line-skips and door tricks to allow you to cheese many of the fights. The are only 2 difficult parts of this run. One is the first 15mins when you run around like a madman pressing all buttons and unleashing hell everywhere to speed up in-fighting. The second is the final arena where you do the same... but to a lesser extent. After clearing the top 2 floors where enemies don't teleport to, you can press all the buttons (including the massive arch-vile and cyberdemon invasions), and just camp on the 2nd floor where you're safe. But for that to work you need to not press the button that releases the cacodemons. This means that both the cyberdemon cleanup, and after that, the cacodemon cleanup are quite slow. But this strategy is consistent enough considering at that point you have a 2h successful run on your shoulders. Otherwise pressing literally all the bottons including the caco-trap feels like a bad decision to take such a huge risk and leave a deep run in the hands of RNG.

Some of these strats were adapted from the previous UV Maxes by Okuplok, and especially Azuruish's TAS. The rest I discovered through experimentation. The fact that I got a sub 2h30 in my first exit leads me to believe faster times are clearly possible with riskier strats and more practice. I was also running with an injured finger which made SR50 difficult to perform, so I mostly used only SL50 throughout this run. I wouldn't be surprised if someone got a sub 2h20 some day.

Profane Promiseland: The End

Coincident 2025-05-30 | The second, and final part of my Profane Promiseland casual playthrough, where the fights got so difficult that mid-saving became a necessity, unfortunately. Maybe with better strategies and some practice some of these fights would be beatable without mid-saves.

As a spiritual successor to Okuplok and inspired by Holy Hell, Profane Promiseland is a massive giga-slaughter map for classic doom with 40k monsters, made by ELMLE, Dubzzz, and Insane Gazebo, and released in 2022. Many that have played it say that this is harder than Okuplok. Regardless of difficulty, it certainly is a more polished (and well tested) map.

Profane Promiseland: The Okuplok Sequel No One Asked For (The Start)

Coincident 2025-05-23 | Having ruined doomguy's vacation, it's time to kick the demons where it hurts them the most: in the Profane Promiseland!

As a spiritual successor to Okuplok and inspired by Holy Hell, Profane Promiseland is a massive giga-slaughter map for classic doom with 40k monsters, made by ELMLE, Dubzzz, and Insane Gazebo, and released in 2022. Many that have played it say that this is harder than Okuplok. Regardless of difficulty, it certainly is a more polished (and well tested) map.

Overboard: Doomguys holiday gone wrong

Coincident 2025-05-16 | Doomguy takes a holiday from Okuplok. Turns out to be a bad idea...

This is a fun let's play of Overboard, which is a small custom mapset for classic doom made by Mouldy; the same creator of Going Down. This run was played on Ultra-Violence difficulty, pistol starting each map, and with limited saves. This is a blind run: my first time discovering these maps.

The mapset only has 6 maps, the 7th being a credits map only. But if you continue playing past map 7 there's a new game plus mode that let's you repeat the first 6 maps with a much higher difficulty mode (monster placements/item placements/traps/etc).

How To Beat Okuplok - Doom Strategy Guide

Coincident 2025-05-09 | What was once thought impossible has now been conquered. After having UV Maxed Okuplok in a previous video, I now set out to explain, to the best of my abilities, all the tricks necessary to achieve the run, and how to perform them. Due to length limitations, this video does not go into much depth on the reasons why these are the best strategies to survive. So this is a superficial, but complete, overview of all the strategies in my Okuplok UV Max speedrun.

Okuplok is considered by many as the most difficult doom map ever created. The map is heavily criticized for it's wildly varying levels of difficulty between each fight, together with a major health and armor starvation. This makes it extremely frustrating as a challenge, especially when you die to a difficult fight, after having cleared several easy (and borderline boring) fights for 4 hours. With an expected length of 6 to 7 hours, this absolute gaming decathlon is likely to be doom's biggest endurance run ever attempted.

If you were expecting a strategy video in the same format as the previous ones... I'm sorry. I had to wrap up the series with this video quickly because, now that the UV Max has been achieved, I really want to focus on new challenges going forward.

So I died a couple of times to Okuplok...

Coincident 2025-05-02 | A compilation of the Okuplok UV deaths Max in chronological order. Causes of death are shown at the end of each clip. Without the lessons learned from each death I would've never made it.

Apologies for the profanities. I did enjoy running Okuplok during these 2 years and 4 months, but these were the most frustrating bits. It may suck to die and lose 4h of progress, but those were 4h of victory after victory up until then. Dying only once every 4h on a map this big and this hard is a lower death per minute average than in any other run I've done before. Running Okuplok ended up being, on average, one of my least frustrating doom. Dying and resetting every 5 minutes is what drives me nuts. But that didn't happen here because I've long developed consistent strategies, especially for the starting fights.

As for the cleanup parts, they may not be exciting, but even then I'm just relaxing, killing hundreds of monsters, taking in all the death animation sprites and explosion sounds, and enjoying a bit of mindless slaughter. Life's all about the small things.

World First Okuplok UV Max in 6:05:22

Coincident 2025-04-23 | Okuplok. 23 thousand enemies in a sequence of extremely challenging fights. Created in 2012, this massive slaughtermap for classic doom was long thought to be impossible. And yet, as time passed, and as new strategies and tricks were discovered, the possibility of a non-TAS UV Max speedrun of Okuplok became closer and closer to a reality.

You are watching the longest standing doom marathon that has remained unconquered for 13 years. This is a 6 hour long grind with the goal of reaching the exit will all monsters killed, and without dying once. And by the way, there are no save games, and no checkpoints. The smallest mistake means you go all the way back to the start.

I did want to upload the whole wad playthrough in a single video; but that amounted to a whopping 24 hours and 2 minutes of runtime. And unfortunately, YouTube recently enforced a new rule that limits videos to a maximum of 12 hours. So I had to split this playthrough in 3 parts. Pity. Would love to have had a video with 24 hours of doomin' in my channel...

Okuplok made another map?!

Coincident 2025-02-12 | Okuplok left the doom community many years ago. What most people don't realize is that he created another map back in 2011. His first map "Untitled" is an undiscovered experience for many players, and it does not disappoint when it comes to delivering difficult encounters. So much so, that the Cyber Snake fight in "Untitled" is EVEN HARDER than any fight in "Untitled 2", INCLUDING the Crossfire Arena!

In this video I showcase a couple of new tricks that allowed me to beat Ancalagon's UV Max record of Slaughterfest 2011, map 24, aka "Untitled".

TNT:Evilution + Corruption Cards (Doom)

Coincident 2024-06-21 | A fun playthrough and casual complete longplay of TNT:Evilution for classic doom, while running the Corruption Cards mod. All the cards are permanent, and all of them are picked by Twitch chat! I only reset the cards once: at the start of Map 20; and from that point onwards, I also added an extra challenge: pistol start! Madness ensued.

Nothing is left. Nothing but single-segment.

Okuplok slaughter map and its 23 thousand monsters beaten in 7 hours on Ultra-Violence while using nothing but ONE save-state. This double segment completion was over 4 times harder than the ITYTD run; and incorporates several different strategies due to the fact that ammo is halved, and damage is doubled.

Category: UV MAX (100% kills + secrets) 2-Segment TAS: only 1 save-state at 5:18:51 no other tools were used.

Scythe (Doom)

Coincident 2024-04-26 | A first-time, blind playthrough of Scythe; pistol-start, single-segmenting each map without saves. Technically I did save a bunch of times (especially to explore secrets after exiting), but I never loaded after a death, so that counts as single-segment on my book.

All except for map 28. F- that one.

Apologies for the choppy gameplay after map 26. I had been having a lot of performance issues when running dsda-doom and streaming+recording at the same time. After spending weeks trying to diagnose the problem, it turns out that it's a bug with frame interpolation with dsda-doom v0.27.5 that happens to a lot of people (even though most don't notice it). A hotfixed version of dsda-doom (v0.27.5b) has been released since then.
