I kept going with some adjustments over the previous route and a better execution. In the end I could get a sub-4 run!

I discovered a trick in the red key area: with a precise setup, you can skip 5 consecutive linedefs in a row to get the BFG while it's supposed to be teleported away from you. It's quite convenient to deal with the red key and the yellow key fights! The trick happens at 26:00.

It's been a very, very long process of practicing and a lot of attempts before getting the run. It is definitely the hardest map I've ever completed in a single segment.
I cut the Twitch VOD to keep only the last successful attempt. Enjoy!

One dream, one hour. Theoretically it is absolutely possible to complete Zone 300 in less than one hour. My practice runs with saves got around 59 minutes, though I always consider some extra margin due to bad RNG and my nerves going nuts during real attempts. That's why I thought that dream was unreachable, but actually this run proves me wrong as I surprisingly got very close to that barrier. Even so I decided to stop for now as this is already a good time and maybe one day I'll return to it, or someone else will do! Peace :)

Going Down Turbo is a new edition of the original Going Down created by mouldy to celebrate the 10th anniversary of the wad. It's overall designed to be more balanced and fast-paced (and it has more toilets).
As a matter of fact, the original wad was completed by Daerik in 1h52, compared to 1h18 here without too much effort. It took me about one week to route, practice and get this run in only 20 attempts. A better run could probably be much closer to the 1h barrier with more agressive and efficient strategies. It's good enough for a tablefill!

It's the very first map I've ever solo speedrun on Tyson. It was part of the Pacifist Paradise bingo event, a Doom speedrunning competition which happened on Meowgi's Discord server.
The pistol is actually pretty busted in TQC, so that it's fun playing with it. It's a cool map, though the run is a bit annoying because of that single mancubus which is the only monster you can't punch easily, and you can't afford spending 10 seconds killing it with the pistol, so you have to rely on infighting. I finally got a solid time after hundreds of attempts!

50 attempts. Previous record by vdgg in 1m28, but it also improves Billa's NM Speed run in 58s.
It's actually not longer to make a detour to get the secret since you have to wait for the bars at the end to lower anyways (in fact the pro strat is to archvile jump above the bars, that's what I did in my D2All TAS, though it's incredibly much more difficult). There's a linedef skip at the start to avoid revealing a bunch of hell knights and barons, it's definitely not mandatory but it helps to jump over the lowering walls. Otherwise, it's pretty simple thanks to the invulns, it's just about monsters behaving well and not bothering you too much.

320 attempts. Previous record by Radek Pecka in 2m29, another very old record from 2004. I'm taking it since almost nobody cares about UV Fast :)
It is quite a straightforward map (which is a rare quality in the entirety of Doom 2 lol). In the first room, there is no real choice but to take down slowly the very deadly fast shotgunners ; collecting their shells is also required for the following square room with the imps and pain elementals. In that room, grabbing the megasphere by bumping is quite finicky (I missed once as you can see, it fails most of the time) though much faster and safer than pressing the switch beyond the teleporter. Otherwise, the rest of the run is pretty easy ; the large nukage room is no problem with the invuln. I missed some rockets, whoops! this attempt could have been faster for sure.

Sooo many shots on walls in this run :') Still a good time. Movements are quite tricky in narrow spaces and through pack of monsters. I'm convinced it could go below the minute if it runs smoothly from start to finish with good monsters RNG.

73 attempts, it's a tablefill.
Back to Auger;Zenith my beloved :) This is quite a complex, non-linear map with lots of mechanics and doable tricks. It took me a while and some attempts to figure out what I think is the fastest route, which in particular skips the blue key.

Wad: doomworld.com/idgames/levels/doom2/Ports/a-c/cosmogenesis
Cosmogenesis is one of the biggest map ever created. It was released in 2021 by NoReason, a genius mapper specialized in slaughter maps. It is divided into 4 parts that can be played separately from slots 1 to 4 ; the full map occupies slot 5 and contains 74774 monsters. GIGANTIC! I completed it on stream and it was a breathtaking experience.
This is a demo of part 4, the shortest by far, since it's only one final huge fight with 12k monsters!! It's not a record, which is currently held by Dan87 with an impressive 8m08, but it's still a good achievement and I'm glad with it! It's one of the most impressive fight I've ever done :)

Wad: doomworld.com/idgames/levels/doom2/Ports/megawads/junkfood3
The Junkfood series is a collection of megawads featuring silly yet funny slaughter maps. You should get the spirit of it by looking at this demo! It's an easy map with all the invulns and megas but the clean up is quite random, so getting a sub-2 required a bit of grind.
Doom Speed Demo Archive: dsdarchive.com
Wad: doomworld.com/idgames/levels/doom2/Ports/megawads/tqc
The Quinary Conundrum is a MBF21 compatible mapset created by Vortale and released in April 2024. It's the sequel of The Lost Magic and is still designed around the theme of magic with Heretic/Hexen vibes.
I've been doing tablefilling recently. I'm not gonna upload to YouTube all of my ILs, but at least the episode runs are worth it! My goal on episode 1 was sub-10, so this is it :)
0:00 MAP01 (The Beginning of the End)
The first map introduces to you the zircon staff which basically is a busted BFG. It's your only weapon apart from the pistol (which shoot projectiles at a faster pace) and the berserk. My idea was to use a precise amount of BFG shots in order to keep exactly 160 mana (4 shots) for the rest of the episode.
2:32 MAP02 (The Pumping Station)
Time to grab a shotgun (which has a faster rate) and a chaingun (which shoots projectiles as the pistol and is actually very strong).
4:46 MAP03 (The Forge)
Short map, I'm using a shortcut to jump from the secret megasphere straight to the end, though there are still monsters to kill. One BFG shot for a group of low tier enemies, not the best one, I must say it could probably be more useful somewhere else.
6:09 MAP04 (Looming Threat)
I don't enjoy a lot platforming on boxes, but it's alright. One BFG shot for the group of monsters outside at the start, this one is effective. One BFG shot to blast the final group of imps, very fast! Maybe the BFG shot used in the previous map could be used against the group of pinkies at the end of this map instead.
8:22 MAP05 (The Red Crystal)
One final BFG shot for the boss, he doesn't stand a chance! I'm performing a tricky jump at the end to save a little bit of time, otherwise you'd have to press two switches and wait for the bars to lower.
Doom Speed Demo Archive: dsdarchive.com
47 attempts. Previous record by Neik Kloster in 6m10.
It's a long and linear map, pretty simple until the final fight. It's obviously a deadly one and RNG can be against you depending on monsters movements (sometimes a baron or revenant likes to hide in the alley behind the pyramids...). My goal was sub-6, and 5m48 is way beyond my expectations, so GG :)
Doom Speed Demo Archive: dsdarchive.com
(Re-upload because I accidentally swapped the points of view in the previous video)
And now the Tyson run! There's one multiplayer only berserk pack right at the end of the map. Therefore the plan is to go for it as soon as possible, which is easier said than done, especially considering how low are bullet ammunition. After that, it's time to clean up everything. Obviously the 5 barons are the most troublesome monsters, and it's difficult to maneuver and deal with them on the tiny ledges. Thanksfully, on coop, one player can aggro them with the pistol while the other can punch them to death quite safely. The demo isn't perfect but we're still pretty happy with a sub-4!
Doom Speed Demo Archive: dsdarchive.com
We're pretty happy with this run, which was quite unexpected after a few hours of struggling. Eventually we found a solid strategy to deal with the four barons in the blue key room: megasphere stood on their teleporting destination to prevent them from teleporting and shot his rockets at them through the wall while they were still stacked together. It was actually quite consistent thanks to the partial invisibility (which is only available on coop), since megasphere couldn't move away from the TP thing nor could have properly dodged direct projectiles coming from behind the wall. The cleaning was surprisingly very fast at the end and allowed us to get an excellent sub 1m10 despite some funny mistakes (me accidentally shooting with the pistol while trying to switch to the berserk, and megasphere almost destroying me with the plasma!).
Doom Speed Demo Archive: dsdarchive.com
One of my favorite map (if not my favorite?) of Ultimate Doom, I can't really explain why... it has something special. There's no real coop shenanigan in our route, we're just splitting and completing our respective sections. In the end, our main concern was to balance both our routes in order to be able to finish at the same time, and megasphere was only slightly faster than me :)
Doom Speed Demo Archive: dsdarchive.com
402 attempts in total, counting the previous ones. Redid it because Andrea instantly beat my previous record, so here's again a new improvement!
Doom Speed Demo Archive: dsdarchive.com
272 attempts. Previous record by Andrea in 2m04. Finally sub-2! I went for a much more agressive strategy than usual (and therefore more hazardous), trying to ignore as many monsters as possible to maximize infighting. The ending is a bit messy, but wasn't too bad!
Doom Speed Demo Archive: dsdarchive.com
514 attempts. Another record taken back from Andrea. I'm very happy with how well went this run, the ending is especially very neat!
Doom Speed Demo Archive: dsdarchive.com
461 attempts. Already did this run before in 2m38, and then Andrea got 2m33. Revenge :D
Doom Speed Demo Archive: dsdarchive.com
There is a lot of additional stuff in multiplayer, including more rockets, a plasma rifle and even a BFG! Therefore it's quite a straightforward max.
Doom Speed Demo Archive: dsdarchive.com
A rare Ultimate Doom map including 2 berserks (actually the one at the end is multiplayer only), which is great for coop tyson! Multiplayer also adds some very handy stuff (a soulsphere in the courtyard, an invulnerability at the end). It's not a very pretty map but it's short and fun for speedrunning!
Doom Speed Demo Archive: dsdarchive.com
Doom Speed Demo Archive: dsdarchive.com
Another tedious tyson run without any berserk and very scarce bullet ammunition. At least it's funny to do it on coop!
Doom Speed Demo Archive: dsdarchive.com
We first tried a tyson run of this map, and it was extremely inconsistent and painful lol. So I pushed megasphere to do a max and we quickly got good results!
Doom Speed Demo Archive: dsdarchive.com
There is a first time for everything, so here is my first coop demo with my French fellow Megasphere as well as my first tyson run! We got this time pretty quickly and then were never able to do better, so we kept it.
There will be more, so stay tuned ;)

I have been doing lots of short, mostly pointless runs lately, and this one was quite interesting. Very small yet brutal slaughter map, BFG spam for the win. It's not my usual kind of run but it was actually quite fun! Don't ask me why it's called Oopsie ;)

Doom Speed Demo Archive: dsdarchive.com
749 attempts. Previous record by Andrea Rovenski in 2m07s66.
That was an intense grind for only one second of improvement... It could be sub-2, but gosh this map is rough and RNG isn't helping.
Doom Speed Demo Archive: dsdarchive.com
155 attempts. Previous record by Rayziik in 1m46.
I had to experiment many different strategies before finding a fast one. Then it was only a matter of time before getting the good run with a cooperative RNG. Basically, lure everything in the central room (including the caco outside, the two revenants teleporting from the yellow key location, and the nobles in the last corridor), rely on infighting and use rockets for maximal damage. I was very surprised to suddenly save a dozen seconds after getting many times behind Rayziik's record! I didn't even notice I telefragged the caco :p
